№2 The Distillery, Glassfields

№2 The Distillery, Glassfields

A dynamic yet secure entrance to Bristol’s new vibrant office building

Referencing the site’s owners from 1880 to 1940, this stunning new building is named after the Bristol Distillery Company. It is however a modern multi-level office designed with human connections in mind, the building looks at blurring the lines between the outside and inside,  inspire interaction and collaboration between tenants and encourage the flow of people through the space.

Project Year: 2021

Architect: AWW Architects
Contractor: Kier and AB Glass

Product: ASSA ABLOY RD3A Access Controlled Revolving Door

Product: ASSA ABLOY SL500 Sliding Door Operator

Project Background: The architect got in touch with FAAC Entrance Solutions UK (then trading as ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems) at early design stages back in 2016, to discuss their options for this exposed entrance with a covered atrium. The specification requirements called for a security line between the footpath and the private courtyard, including both a revolving door and a pass door to meet accessibility requirements. Throughout the project design stages, we looked at occupancy levels, safety and security, aesthetics and performance of the entrance.

Solution: Working alongside contractors Kier and AB Glass, and without losing sight of AWW’s specification, MEP and structural requirements, our RD3A Slim 3-Wing 2400mm Revolving Door with night closing doors in Black Grey was chosen. Designed to be always open but locked, the RD3A was the best solution to handle the security demands of The Distillery. COBA Plan.a aluminium entrance matting with standard profile was fitted with the revolving door space. An SL500 Sliding Door Operator was also installed in the same open entrance space, completed with door leaves supplied by AB Glass.
