Located in the heart of East London, the Andaz Hotel offers 5 star luxury to its guests. As part of its extensive refurbishment programme the hotel took the opportunity to upgrade its revolving door.
Project Year: 2019
Architect: Conran & Partners
Contractor: Central Glass & Glazing Ltd
Product: ASSA ABLOY RD3, 3.6m diameter Revolving Door. See Product
Product: ASSA ABLOY SW300 Automatic Swing Door operator with door-mounted presence detection sensors to comply with EN16005. See Product
Project Background: The existing 4-wing door wasn’t large enough and this was affecting the flow of traffic. One of the main issues was the trapping of trailing luggage, being pulled by guests, due to the restricted compartment space offered by a small diameter, 4 wing, revolving door.
Solution: Working with the lead architect and on-site facilities management company, FAAC Entrance Solutions UK (then trading as ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems) designed a solution that would optimise pedestrian flow within the existing envelope of the main entrance into the hotel,as well accomodate a new automated pass door. The new revolving door also features our intelligent breakout system, which eliminates accidental breakout of the leaves and can only be activated when the fire alarm is triggered.
